VB Jaycees Polar Plunge 2016

VB Jaycees braved the cold water and plunged into the ocean to raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics.  To prepare for the event, team members and their fans meet at Chicho’s for some liquid courage and warm food.  Once on the beach, the VB Jaycees were surrounded by thousands of teams some were plunging as cave people,  with body paint and bikinis, and there was even a wedding party.  Jennifer Lee Conaway, the team captain took a full dip and submerged herself underwater.

The VB Jaycees Polar Plunge team raised over $1,800 to support the Special Olympics mission of providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
